Project 365: Week 25
This week for my Project 365 you may notice I have done things a little differently. You won’t see my daily photos of the kids (sorry Mom!) Instead, I wanted to share a new creative project I have recently started.
For the past few years I have wanted to incorporate hand-lettering into my artwork but haven’t made the time to learn this art form. I have always loved handwriting and love seeing all the amazing hand-lettered art pieces that so many talented artists create. For these reasons, I recently started up a hand-lettering challenge on Instagram that will allow me to learn the basics of hand-lettering. I am a beginner and must start with the basics. So far I have learned so much!
For the challenge I am to write a letter of the alphabet each day starting with the letter “A”. I just completed the first week of the challenge and thought I would post the photos that I took each day. I would love for you to follow me on this creative journey on Instagram @lauren.runyan.
If you would like to learn the basics of hand-lettering and learn more about the challenge, I would encourage you to check out it out here. Along with this challenge I found another creative community over on Facebook that has been a great encouragement to learn hand-lettering. It is an art and hand-lettering class through Dawn Nicole Designs. If interested in joining this community you can check out her page here.
DIY Watercolor Gift Tags
It is hard to believe we are already in to the month of December! Yet here we are, and for many of us, we have lots of gift wrapping and Christmas parties to attend throughout the next few weeks. Each year I like to take a little extra time wrapping a few gifts to make them look special. Of course, I don’t do this for any of my kids since they open their gifts in 2 seconds. 🙂 One way I like to make a gift look pretty and extra special is to have a handmade looking gift tag on top. So today I am going to show you how to create a few different DIY watercolor gift tags. Here are the materials you will need. (more…)
